If I could tell a male manager 3 things about how to manage your female staff, here’s what I’d say 1. Ask, don’t assume - just because your wife/mother/sister didn't necessarily want to be known as ambitious, doesn’t mean I don’t 2. Just because you haven’t seen a woman being put down, or experienced it yourself, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. 3. Just because she gets tears in her eyes doesn’t make her not great leadership material. In fact, it makes her human. It’s tough being a career minded woman even in 2020. Women are still pigeon holed, put down or sidelined because of their gender in many organisations. Double standards abound. When Prince Harry holds the baby, the world goes gaga. Yet when Megan holds the baby, the world critiques her holding technique!!! Add the COVID meltdown into the mix, where women are losing roles at 4 x the rate of men and unconscious bias is a distraction we really don’t need. The world desperately needs smart women leading, and men to listen to, and champion, women putting forward new ideas and innovative solutions. Women definitely do it differently and different is the competitive advantage What’s your pet peeve when it comes to assumptions? #leadership #gender #professionalwomen #amandablesing AmandaBlesing.com
I wouldn’t want to be on the project because there’s on site, travel, late nights and weekends involved! :s
Having to defend fair and equal pay! Why do I get less as a women for the same role.
Amazing post 👌🏻
My pet peeve about assumptions is that they are usually wrong. Ask don’t tell. Ask is about getting clarity, tell is often based on assumptions.
This is a great post!
The judgements and expectations we place on women that aren’t demanded of men.
100% true

3yIt took me far too many years to understand the truth of #2. But not believing this is like saying you don’t believe people are starving because you’ve never been hungry.
